Over my lifetime, I've filled so many notebooks. Lately, they are filled with NASCAR notes for NASCARFemale or this website. But once upon a time, I had at least fifteen or sixteen different notebooks with book ideas. I had all kinds of plots, characters, towns... all of it mapped out. Then I hit high-school and it seemed my word vault (as I've come to call it) was clamped shut. I can spit out a thousand nonfiction words, but the second I try to switch gears and try anything fiction I get stuck.
In the last year, I've had the itch to sit down and create my own world many, many times. So, I sit down, pull out multiple notebooks, pens, and pencils, I get a glass of water, turn on some music and.... stare at the blank screen for hours on end. Writer's block is hard enough when you aren't constantly switching between fiction and nonfiction stories. Add into the mix that I haven't been practicing and it's just embarrassing!
I need to sit down and go with timed writing prompts for a while, because who knows when that little ten-minute writing session could turn into a million dollar idea? I need to find some inspiration and hold onto it with every fiber of my being because last time I let it slip through my fingers and it's been nearly two years.
In October I read a book series by Nora Sakavic (My favorite author, also there will be an article coming on that eventually) and her characters are so well crafted, I can only hope to make mine half as good as hers! It was inspiring enough to get my word doc opened but since then all I've done is type, delete, repeat! This is so much harder than it was a few years ago, but I'm not giving up.
Bring it on brain!

If you didn't guess by the title, this is my everything blog, where I write about... well everything! You get the idea. The only thing I don't write about here is NASCAR because I have a different blog for that.
