We're starting to wind down on the BOXYCHARM Series! I love doing these but my subscription runs out next month and as of right now I can't afford to do them for a little while, so I'm hoping June's box comes with tons of awesome stuff so we can go out with a bang! Hopefully this won't be like all the band hiatuses where they take a break and never come back. I would hate that.
So let's get this show on the road! This month's BOXYCHARM box was a little different. It cmae with six products instead of the usual five. May is BOXYCHARMS 'birthday month' so they wanted to throw a little extra something in there for us. The first thing you see when you open the box is the fun little colored card, and when you lift it, all the brushes!
This box came with a set of three eye brushes, (a spoolie, an angled brush and one of those super 'fine tipped eyeliner' brushes.) the fluffy bronzer brush, the liquid lipstick and the Cover FX primer. Hidden underneath the protective packaging was the PUR cosmetics contour sculpting palette. With all of the other things on top I nearly forgot about it being in the bottom of the box.
Let's start with all of the Aesthetica brushes. The brush set that came in May's box was called "The Aesthetica Trio Series" and included the angled eyeliner brush, the spoolie, and the fine tipped brush. I persoanlly liked these brushes, I've been needing to get a spoolie so I was pretty happy to see one was coming in the box. The angled brush works well and since I already had one, my little sister is using hers to put on her eyebrows now. This brush set retails for $45 USD.
We also received the P12 Face Brush from Aesthetica, which pairs well with the PUR Cosmetic's Sculptor Palette. The brush is extremely soft, it blends pretty well and I'm glad it came in the box, the P12 retails for $27 USD.
The PUR Sculptor Palette is a contour and highlight palette that features two of each, and I feel like the colors are a little bit too dark for my skin tone, Im extremely pale. I can eventually get the contour colors blended out, but it does take a bit of work. I think the colors would look really, really good on someone with just a bit of a darker skin tone than my own. The palette retails for $30 USD. The swatches on my arm are in this order: Lipstick, eyeliner, contour, (Inventor and then Founder) and the highlight (Originator and then Trailblazer).
Once again BOXYCHARM has included a Pretty Vulgar product! This time we got the Ink Gel Eyeliner pot. I absolutely love this eyeliner, and for a few reasons. Firstly, it's got amazing pigment, it's a really black eyeliner! And secondly, I live for this packaging. It's made to look like a little ink pot that you'd dip a quill or calligraphy pen into before you start writing! I can appreciate some cool packaging, especially this one.
I have a lot of mixed feelings on the Beauty Creations Matte Liquid Lip Gloss. For one, it's a lip gloss why does it need to be matte? It's got beautiful pigment but the lips just stick together kind of like they've been glued. I really wanted to love this lipstick, but I'd only wear it for the color not the comfort. When you press your lips together and pull them apart while they're sticking together it kind of pulls the color off parts of your lip as if you chiped it off with a toothpick. The matte lip gloss retails for $10 USD. (Excuse the hair, it refuses to floof and it's been a while since I've used my lightening shampoo)
I wanted to end this on a really high note, so for the product I was most excited for - the Cover FX Blurring Primer! I've never owned a real primer so I was extremely excited to see it would be included in the May box! I've used it once under a bit of concealer and blush to test it out and I really liked it! The primer did give me a scare for a second when I put it on my face because it wasn't clear it's tinted a tan color (darker than my skin) but it rubbed away when I put it on. Not sure if that's just this primer or most primers since I haven't used one before. If you guys want to get your hands on the primer it retails for $38 USD.
I haven't included this in past box reviews but I thought it would be worth it to mention that every month each box features a promocode of some sort. This month BOXYCHARM members received a code for Cover FX and PUR.
I hope you guys have been enjoying this series as much as I have been, I'll see you back here next month for the last one! (Again, hopefully not forever!)
*Don't forget to leave me a comment below they make my day!
Last week my best friend sent me a picture of some candles talking about how they were based off a series I'd recently finished (The Raven Cycle). She said she'd just bought the candles from Novelly Yours and there were four of them - Cabeswater (9 and 12oz are on the site), Manibus, Henrietta, and the one I was most excited for, Gansey.
So I looked into the Novelly Yours website, found the candle set for around twenty-eight dollars (there's a set of smaller candles for fifteen) scrounged together the cash and purchased my candles! That was late last week, and this afternoon they finally arrived! Hurray!
I was so exicted when the mail man showed up, I ran outside to get them while he was still here! I opened the box to several pleasant surprises! Firstly I was impressed with the fact that on order summary paper there was a hand written note:
That note was a really good touch, it makes the costumer-to-seller relationship seem more personal which is always good for a business! (also at the bottom of the order summery Brittany attached her email and so you can contact her if there were any problems with the order)
Then there was fun green crinkly grass that you get in like easter baskets? Those guys always make me even more excited. (There was a lot more green paper than in the picture but I took most of it out before the picture!)
Then each candle was individually wrapped with bubble wrap, white paper and had a thank you sticker on each one holding the paper closed.
Further more - I got a free sample candle for a new one coming out called "Castle Whitespire." (I'm not sure what book/series that's from but it smells awesome!)
So overall - I had a really pleasant experience with Novelly Yours, I a hundred percent recommend you get some of these candles. The shipping process was smooth, the candles smell so good, the packaging was done by hand and adorable, and I'm definitely going back to get another Gansey candle - just saying.

*Would you guys buy the candles? If you have perviously what do you think of them? Leave me a comment and we can chat!
(The April BOXYCHARM was shipped a couple of weeks ago and I've had for a bit but I have been out of town and busy with school so I haven't been able to write until now I apologize!! A lot happened every time I tried to make this - I'm sick so I don't want to put it on my face, I took a bad picture when I opened it and now the box is gone... blah, blah, blah. I'm sorry!! On with the article!)
In this months box everyone had the chance to get a variation of a Colourpop Palette and different shades of the Tartiest Pro Glow Liquid Highlight and a lipstick either a Mac color or an Adesse liquid lipstick.
Dr. Brandt Vaccum Cleaner Face Mask: This face mask is so WEIRD. Good weird though. When you rub it on your face it goes from clear to blue, and as it dries it turns into a whitish-blue color. Then you wash it off with a warm washcloth and your skin feels super nice and smooth! It helps tighten your pores, and retails for arounf $47. My only problem with this mask is that I think it smells kinda funny, just a little, and my sister said she didn't think it smelled bad so that's a matter of opinion. (It's the third swatch)
Adesse liquid Lipstick in Hi Definition: I really like this color and the formula is very different from liquid lipsticks I've bought in the past. It's pretty smooth, isn't patchy but it does rub off on glasses or anything your mouth touches. it's a very pretty color though. It retails for around $24. The thing that's weird is on my wrist swatch it looked kinda red, but it's actually brown on my lips-something to keep in mind! (Second swatch!)
MLP Palette: I really was hoping I wouldn't get this pallette, I don't like the colors in it or the theme of the palette and I gave it to a friend unopened so there will be no swatches of the colors this time - I'm sorry! It does retail for $16 on colourpop if you are interested.
The BrowGal Eyebrow Gel in Blonde: I'm blonde, as we all know, and I love this stuff. I've only ever had eyebrow pencils and one other eyebrow gel but it always put too much product on my eyebrows. This stuff is really good, it's a pretty color and the wand is small enough it won't clump putting it on. The gel retails for $22.
Tartiest Pro Glow Liquid Highlight in Stunner: I've never had a liquid highlight before it takes some getting used to. I do like it, I'm more of a fan of powder highlights but it will definitely get put to use! The highlight retails for $24. (First swatch!)
This month's box was really fun and I can't wait for next month's! Over all I really enjoyed it, and will be using everything again. (aside from the eyeshadow that I'm giving away!) Hope you guys enjoyed and see you next time! - Jessy
So I was on vacation last week in Florida. We went to the beach had a great time... blah, blah, blah. That's not the point of this story. This story is about how my Aunt offered to take me to get my haircut.
It starts out with me turning her down. Twice actually, but she thankfully kept asking and I eventually caved. I had no idea what I wanted to do so in a moment of spontaneous indecision I showed her this photo.
I wanted a longer version, but I ended up getting a super short haircut. At first I was completely terrified, I had four hours to be nervous about what it would look like because the bleaching process we picked takes a WHILE. Eventually though, I saw my hair in the mirror and I knew I made the right decision! I got a totally Jessy version of the picture.
So we get back to my Aunt's place and I took a billion photos, I was very excited about my new hair. But the real test was coming up - what does it look like after I wash it? While it was drying I was horrified because it did not look good, but I quickly found out if i just jiggle a brush through it instead of brushing straight down then it looks good when it completely dries.
Armed with my phone and fun new hair cut I started posting a bunch of pictures on Instagram. It was like I suddenly found out what a filter was, because I used a bunch. I also went back and deleted a bunch of pictures because of my wavering confidence. However, I'm starting to get better at this picture thing and I'm getting tips from tons of friends. So thanks friends, (especially Logan!!) I felt like I looked younger when i first got it, but I'm glad to know that isn't true, because that would stink.
And thank you Donna for giving me a kick-butt haircut! (also that strange reoccurring piece of ribbon is my NASCAR dog tag I wear all the time, the chain broke so the ribbon is a stand in for now!)
Snowy days in March are like pausing time, wasn't yesterday the first day of spring?
Snowy days in March are for being blissful, content and pushing all of your worries aside for another day. They're for focusing on you,
Snowy days in March are for sleeping in late, drinking warm tea and listening to music, (playlists 1, 2, 3 and 4)
Snowy March days are for taking a deep breath and letting everything simmer down, they're for reading poetry and forgetting who you are for a while,
Snowy days in March are for snuggling up with a fuzzy blanket and watching YouTubers play PUBG (Players Unknown Battle Ground),
They're for smiling, cracking jokes with your little sister and watching the dog roll around confused in the fluffy white stuff outside,
They're for watching Adventure Time, doing simple yoga stretches and avoiding Twitter drama,
They're for painting your nails and eating peach pie,
They're for writing rough drafts, and drawing crappy sketches, and taking polaroid photos...
They're snowy days in March.
This is my first month receiving a BOXYCHARM Box. BOXYCHARM is a monthly makeup subscription box that comes with four to five full size makeup products from various cosmetic companies. The box costs twenty-one bucks for a month and you can get discounts if you buy three or more months.
This months box's theme was 'Baecation' so everything was vacation themed. When you open the box it looks like this:
It included all of the things in the photos, although some subscribers received different variations of the blush color and mascara.
First up: the thing everyone who received the box was most excited for- the BOXYCHARM X PUR eyeshadow palette. The colors are relatively pigmented, and there is a little bit of fall out on the shimmers, but that can be wiped away. There are twelve colors that do remind me of going to the beach. I'm visiting Florida at the end of the month and I'm definitely going to make use of that blue color (Mia) The only problem is that it showed up with the dark brown color (Duet) shattered. However, BOXYCHARM is working with me to get it replaced and they replied pretty quickly!
The Pretty Vulgar blush in Prim Vixin is absolutely gorgeous. It's especially pigmented so don't apply it with a heavy hand! I love the shade it's a true pink, I've worn it both days I've had it in my possession and can't wait to apply it again tomorrow!
The next item in the box was the South Mane Eye Gel Pack. It comes with three packages, and the eye gels are supposed to reduce puffiness, reduce your dark circles and mositurizes the under eye area. I've used two of the three packs and I really like them. I have sensative skin and after wearing them for about five or six miniutes my under eye area burns just enough to know it's there, but granted I have sensative skin. I usually have very puffy eyes in the morning and this did get rid of the swelling and lighten the skin, as well as make under my eyes very soft. I will definitely consider buying them again.
Now for the Vintage Cosmetic Company makeup brush set. The brushes are very soft, but don't pick up very much eyeshadow. You kind of have to pack it on and spend a while blending but it's good to have different sized brushes. They even say "Step 1, 2 and 3" on the handles. (Excuse the colors on the bristles I couldn't get all of the eyeshadow back off since they're white!)
My favorite product in the box was the Bellapierre Volumizing Mascara. It quickly became my new favorite mascara, it makes my eyelashes look even longer. The mascara doesn't dry as quickly as my last mascara did, and I did get it on my eyelid but it's such a nice mascara I'm willing to learn a bit of patience ;).
I got to showcase a look using all of the makeup last night at the theater, my sister and I watched Love, Simon (review coming soon!) on the preimer day. It was really cool to do my makeup the day the box showed up and then head to the theater feeling extra glam!
So overall I really enjoyed the box and definitely want to get another one next month. I'm having tons fo fun with all of my new makeup and BOXYCHARM is working diligently with me to get the eyeshadow palette replaced!
See ya next time! ~Jessy
It's been a while! I haven't been posting a lot and I wanted to start posting more often than I have been, I'm sure you guys remember me saying that in another post once upon a time (months ago)! I've been doing a lot of stuff lately and I figured I would share!
So first off the number one thing I've been doing is reading. And I mean reading! It's been non-stop at least one book a day reading! There was a span of three days in a row where I read A Boy Worth Knowing, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of The Universe and the third day I reread The Foxhole Court! And in-between all of these books I was doing school work, publishing and writing recaps on my Team Penske page, and reading some more!
I've been reading a little bit of poetry and every single short story I can find online! You know what they say, "If you're going to get anywhere in life, you need to read a lot of books!" I don't remember who said that I've just heard it a few times and I agree! There is no better feeling than the first time you read a book (or watch a race! But we aren't talking about racing) it's all new! I've also been writing in my time away. I know I know- What do you mean you've been writing? Why aren't you posting if you have been writing oh so much hm? Well, these things I've been writing aren't ready for the pubic eye, at least not yet. I haven't decided if I want to post a few things here and there or if I should wait and slap all my ideas into one big book. We'll see how that goes.
Guess what else I've been up to! I've been wasting sticky notes. It took me twelve sticky notes to make the picture above - including a few you didn't see because 1) I messed them up 2) they were for a picture I decided not to use.
That's about it actually... It feels like I've done so much more but I've spent so much of my time just reading and reading! The good news is some of those books on my '2018 book list' can be crossed off soon!
I hope you all had a wonderful February, let's get March started!
Random thought - why can't I use the strikethrough font on here (Weekly)? It would be helpful!

The third and final book for the All For The Game series, The Kings Men, by Nora Sakavic, was published in 2016. I hadn't read any of the books until sometime in October this year. One of my best friends found a character description online somewhere (we haven't seen it since!) and she loved the series before even picking up the book. It took me a few days myself before I finally started reading the first book in the series, The Foxhole Court (TFC). Not even two pages in I knew I would love it, I mean a story based on college students and a fictional sport based off of lacrosse? I'm here for it!
I read the entire series in four days, working around school work of course, and as soon as I finished my friend bombarded me with fan theories, and things confirmed and denied by the author about the series! I won't spoil anything here but once you get the books I highly suggest checking out Nora's Foxhole Court page on Tumblr.
The first book is free on iBook so you can get a feel for the book before committing to spending any money on it, and the other two books are ninety-nine cents each. So much goes into these books they are so, so good. It's hard to tell you why they're so good without giving anything away! Throughout the entire book, you learn little things here and there about each character and their past and then when you go to Nora's TFC page afterword and finished making connections it's such an amazing feeling.
I've never read a book series that I've loved like this one. It keeps you guessing, and the book brings out so many emotions, I cried, I laughed, I experienced major secondhand embarrassment and some secondhand pain - it was great. I've reread the series at least five times since then and I'm going to reread it again soon. I've never been able to reread a book this much and that makes it all the more fantastic. If I'm ever anxious and need a world to escape too I know The Foxhole Court is always waiting. (Although I don't recommend it to others while you're having a panic attack until you've read it through at least once because it can get pretty morbid sometimes)
My favorite thing about the book is watching the characters grow as people and heal and get better. I love the way the characters interact with each other between main character Neil and all of his teammates... it's amazing. I can't describe it without giving everything away but it's an amazing experience.
My only thing is if you have triggers I suggest looking at this list of triggers before reading the book (here) http://cabeswaterlovesthem.tumblr.com/post/142112202373/detailed-list-of-trigger-warnings-for-the-foxhole because there are some things that happen in it that aren't the nicest.
Once you finish the series you can go to Nora's Tumblr and find all sorts of interesting things my personal favorite - The twin's first year through Renee Walker's eyes. (definitely worth waiting to read until the book is over with I think it'll have a bigger impact!)
I've never read a book series and fallen in love with it and it's characters quite like this one. I can't wait to see what other books Nora comes out with in the future! I can only hope to write a book that has that effect on people one day.
*Don't be afraid to leave me a comment to read down below, they always make me smile!
(I've decided to bold the titles of the books I want to read so when I refer back to this list through out the year it'll be easier to find them!)
Every year I have a collection of books I want to read but I never get around to it. Whether it's because I don't rent them from the library or I simply don't have the money, the end result is always the same. This year I decided things would be a little bit different... I also figured sharing the books I want to read with the world would encourage me to actually read them so at the end of the year when you all start asking if I finished them I can proudly tell you I did!
The first book I want to read is actually a series. It's called the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I don't know much about it, just that a friend of mine said I would like it. It's a four book series. I currently own the first one and will be getting the others later this year.
I started reading Keys To The Kingdom by Garth Nix last year, and I have yet to finish the final three books. The series is seven books long and I'm currently in the middle of "Lady Friday" and waiting for the last two (Superior Saturday and Lord Sunday) in the mail.
One of my close friends Kayla sent me a book called Rebel Spirits which is about a girl who moves from Philadelphia to Gettysburg and she can see ghosts. I'm not very far into this one yet but the main character is looking into the murder of a Civil War soldier.
A Lite Too Bright by Sam Miller (lead singer of Paradise Fears) isn't set to come out until sometime in May, but I have it preordered!
Girl Online is a three book series by Zoe Sugg (Zoella on YouTube) who writes about a girl owning a blog. I have the first one and am waiting for the second one in the mail.
Note to Self by Connor Franta is kind of like a follow up to his first book, but I'm hoping I can read it and know what's going on. If not, then we'll add A Work In Progress to the list!
I found Turtles All The Way Down by John Green in a Target in the middle of No-Where Illinois, and I can't wait to read it! TATWD is about two girls trying to find a runaway criminal and split the money, the twist? The runaway is the dad of an old friend.
Deep Blue by Randy Wayne White. RWW's books mostly take place around a set of Islands in Florida, and it's fun to read them because I've been to a lot of the area. I can't wait to read about this one!
I'm ordering a bunch of these off Amazon as we speak, but a few won't get here until May. Human error on my part I clicked the fewer boxes option at checkout forgetting one of the books was on preorder! Anyways, I'm looking forward to crossing titles off this list and hopefully making a part two later in the year! I'll keep you all updated!
If you didn't guess by the title, this is my everything blog, where I write about... well everything! You get the idea. The only thing I don't write about here is NASCAR because I have a different blog for that.
