I’m willing to bet those two little words made you a little (or a lot) uncomfortable. They made me uncomfortable as well, trust me. It’s April and authors from all over are gathering online for Camp NaNoWriMo. Long story short (ha, pun unintended) for Camp NaNo you go to their website and set a writing goal that you have to meet in a month.
My goal for April Camp NaNo 2019 is to type up twenty-thousand words. Something I should easily be able to do. Of course, as soon as the thought crossed my mind I was destined for trouble. It’s the ninth and I’ve typed a little less than three thousand words. The culprit? Writer’s block. Or so I’m telling myself. If I really look deep inside of me there are only a few things stopping me.
I know, I know. How can a writer be afraid of writing? Well a lot of times when I’m typing it comes out clanky and awkward, the words sputtering like a broken engine until I get so fed up that I take a break and never come back to it.
So, what do I do about it? Lately I’ve been just pretending not to think about it- which is the wrong answer by the way. How can you fix something if you refuse to even look at it? How do you change the radio station without pressing the buttons? How can you write a novel if you never write it? The answer is simple- you can’t.
I’m hoping by typing this up here it will inevitably help me get back on track with my book. Dump out everything here that I don’t need and then switch Google Docs back to my WIP (Work in Progress).
I've got a temporary title picked out but I'm not sure about it: A World Out There what do you guys think?
There are a few characters that I absolutely love, and a few that need some polishing I’ve managed to go and write myself into a corner. Our dear main character is currently in the middle of the most awkward meeting in existence. The words aren’t sticking together well and now it makes my stomach hurt to think of the scene.
So what could I do? Delete it? Sure. But what if I decide I need it later? I’ll probably just copy paste it into another Google Doc and try again.
For some reason my least favorite part of writing is (the best part) switching things around. I have an undo button. Nothing I do HAS to stay the way it is or stay the way it will be. It’s so easy to go back and fix it, maybe even too easy. So why does my brain go ‘Nah, let’s not lol. Here’s a nervous tummy as a distraction.” I have no idea! But I’m not going to let that stop me. I will reach twenty-thousand before the end of April. If I can write fifty-thousand in a month, then I absolutely can write twenty-thousand!
Will I be typing tonight? I really hope so. In the meantime I’ll listen to music and stall until I get a good idea or end up writing some scenes for later in the book. I think it will help me get to my goal now that I’ve published it on the internet for all to see.
Who knows? Maybe I’ll even show up past me and write more than twenty-thousand... I'm getting ahead of myself again.
It's been a long time since I've sat down and typed up a makeup review. I'm really excited about this one because there is nothing I love more than a 'Wow That's Certainly... Bright' lipstick. I bought three lipsticks and the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray mini.
Personally, I think Russian Red by M.A.C. is more of what you think of when you hear 'red lipstick' while Mega Matte Morphe by Nikita Dragun X Morphe is more of a ribbon red. And my third and final lipstick is a Kylie Cosmetics velvet lipstick in the color Heat.
First up lets look at the swatches.
When I put on Russian Red (pictured below) I got really excited because I've been hearing about this color for a long time and I've wanted to try it out. I purchased the mini version for ten USD, but the full-size was only 18.50 USD.
Morphe's Mega Matte lipstick in Morphe (Pictured below) was probably my favorite out of all three for a few reasons. I love how deep the color was and also the formula was really nice. I absolutely love the little Morphe M carved into the top of the lipstick itself- nice touch.
I bought Morphe for nine USD, and the entire collection has three more reds in it. I am definitely going to be purchasing the other Mega Matte reds as well.
Kylie Cosmetics is popular in the makeup industry for a reason, and many makeup artists have her lip kits in their collections. I was finally able to add one to mine and I just- I get it. I thought I understood why everyone liked these just from watching reviews and tutorials but now that I actually have one I completely understand.
Strange as it sounds the smell was one of the first things I noticed- it smelled so good. Kind of like a chocolatey fruit loop smell? The smell is one of the first things people mention about her lipsticks aside from the performance.
I wear this lipstick more than any of the others I purchased but I love it a lot. It's very bright, wears extremely well... it's just overall great. Kylie Velvets are a new staple in my collection!
** Also side note, always make sure you buy makeup from Ulta, Sephora or the actual brand's website itself. Never buy makeup off of Amazon, eBay or Aliexpress because you can (and most likely will) get chemical burn! I bought a "Kylie" lipstick off of Amazon a few years ago and didn't realize I got a knock off until I'd already burned my lips. It's not a good time, my friends- trust me on that one.
As for the Urban Decay Setting Spray, I can't say I've seen a visible change on anything except for my eyeshadow lasting just a little bit longer. More on that another time.
So, final thoughts? All three lipsticks get a Jessy stamp of approval!
In hindsight I probably should have uploaded this yesterday, since it’s “2018, Year in Books” but what can ya do?
Anywho, some of you may remember I uploaded a “2018 Book List” article. The goal of the article was to basically bully myself into getting back into reading- and it worked! Boy did it work! Compared to 2017’s three books, I read a ton this past year twenty-seven to be exact. Before we get to the list of books however, I want to update you on how 2018’s reading list went.
In my previous book article I said I wanted to read, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater (four books), the end of The Keys to The Kingdom by Garth Nix (four books), A Lite Too Bright by Sam Miller, Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (three books), Note To Self by Connor Franta, Turtles All The Way Down by John Green, and Deep Blue by Randy Wayne White. I read all the bolded items in the list. Everything else- nada!
Hear me out- Girl online started out okay, but it made me uncomfortable to read for some reason. There was just something about the book series that put me off and I got about halfway through the first book before I gave up on it. I never ended up buying Note to Self that was my own fault and I still really want to read that! As for Deep Blue, it’s not that I didn’t like the book, it’s just a really intensely themed book and it’s hard to go from “Oh my god prom!” to a book about stopping a fictional terrorist in a town I’ve personally visited multiple times. I do plan on reading Deep Blue at some point but I gotta be in the mood for Murder Mystery to read a Murder Mystery if that makes any sense.
I hate the way I set up the book list idea for last year for a lot of reasons. Like okay I read the books great but what do you guys care? What are you all getting from it? There were no regular updates on other books I was reading and looking back it just made no sense.
For 2019 what I plan to do is instead of being like “Oh I wanna read these books! Hope I do see you in January!” and then bolt, what I’ll do is read a few books at a time and write an article covering all of those. Kind of like a book (review?) club! We’ll call it Everything Book Reviews in honor of it being posted on the Everything Blog. This year if you’re curious and looking for new books just type ‘Everything Book Reviews’ into the search bar at the top of the page and you’ll get every review I’ve uploaded and tagged! (There will be actual reviews and thoughts and opinions instead of what you’re about to read below)
Now then, for the list of books I read in 2018 - if the title is bolded it’s a recommendation, I put notes and thoughts next to the ones I could remember enough about.
Well that’s it for 2018! It’s been a fun year filled with books and I plan to read more than twenty-seven this year. Let’s see how that works out, shall we? See you in the next one!
A huge charity live stream is coming to YouTube on December 1st at 10 am PST. A group of YouTuber's will be trying to raise as much money as they can for Stand Up To Cancer. Last year they raised over $400,000 dollars (I was able to donate and help spread the word back then!)
This year, (just as last year) the charity stream will be held on Markiplier's YouTube channel. Whether you support Markiplier or not, you should donate if you can! The goal is to raise as much money for charity as possible to help people in need.
In one of his newest videos (The Truth) Markiplier talks about the importance of being truthful and moving forward during in the rough times in our lives. He then goes on to talk about how all money made from any of his merch on Markiplier.com will go to the charity! So if you're a fan who wants merch, then December 1st is the day to buy merch!
Thank you to everyone who decides to donate!
Kyra Siverston is most well known for her family vlogging channel on YouTube, Okbaby. She uploads daily vlogs about her life with her significant other Oscar Morales and their two children Levi and Alaya. Kyra also has her own YouTube channel Kbaby where she also occasionally uploads.
Recently Kyra announced the release of a lipstick collaboration she did with IGXO Cosmetics. I bought the lipstick as fast as I could because I love Kyra and know she would never promote let alone create a faulty product.
The lipstick is called "Baby" and is a beautiful peachy nude. They sell for 16.50 USD and you get yours here.
My lipstick came in the mail a week after I bought it and I've worn it everyday since! The formula is amazing, the color is to die for, once it dries you kind of forget you're wearing lipstick. It doesn't dry down badly at all. I seriously can't go a day without wearing it.
When you get to the lipstick on IGXO Cosmetic's website the description reads, "Kyra's ultra-comfortable, ultra-long lasting, non-transfer Matte Liquid Lipstick has a blend of antioxidants, including Vitamin A & C, to help hydrate, nourish and condition your lips. All vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free & made in the USA.
Kyra also believes in paying it forward and with each purchase, she will "Kiss it Forward" by donating 10% of all her sales to charity."
So not only is the lipstick amazing to wear it's got all of the qualities above and Kyra is donating some of her sales to charity!
There are literally no downs to this lipstick it's incredible.
The packaging is so beautiful too:
You can keep with Kyra's social media life in the links listed above, and on Twitter and Instagram. Really hope you guys give her a chance!
The lipstick sold out and was restocked on the 20th for the final time so if you want one make sure you get it, the supplies are limited!
I am extremely excited for today's post! This is the first palette that I've seen online and decided I really wanted it on the day of the launch and then ended up buying the palette. Sure it's been forever and a half since the launch, but I'm highly excited to finally have this palette in my collection!
Today we're reviewing the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes palette. I've never tried any of Too Faced's eyeshadows before, or any of their brozers or anything. My aunt did give me a mini of the best selling mascara 'Better Than Sex Mascara' (the makeup industry really comes up with some interesting names huh?).
I've heard a few things about this palette we're reviewing.
1) The colors blend extremely well. (Proven to be true! I had no problem getting the colors to cooperate blend-ability wise!)
2) The colors are not as bright in person as they are on the website. (Again, true! The Peach Punch color wasn't as bright.)
3) The colors are extremely pigmented. (Depends on the color. The darker colors are more pigmented than the lighter ones. The main pink on my eyelid (Peach Punch) took a lot of building to get to this point.)
The palette was on sale at Sephora.com for the 'Wow of the week' sale. I nabbed it for 22 bucks instead of the original 45 USD, although with shipping and taxes and all that jazz it ended up costing me 30 bucks at the check out.
Here is the look I created from the example pamphlet that came with the palette along with some swatches! Pardon my extra pale skin, it looks like two of colors (Peach Butter and Peach Meringue) don't show up. They do, they're pigmented, just very close to my skin color.
Overall I personally love this palette and cannot wait to keep using it!
Do you guys have this palette? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments!
I have a candle problem.
Really, it's insane the number of candles I own.
To answer your question- yes, the collection will continue to grow.
My candle collection is growing more than it's shrinking.
There is some good news to this though. Should there be a power outage anytime I soon I have more than 17 candles to help light the house! I actually have so many candles that I currently cannot find all of them. And I won't lie to you, my amazon cart does have more than three candles in it waiting to be purchased. They're bookstore scented, Sherlock's study scented and something else that sounded really nice and also probably book related.
So with all of that being said, should we go through the collection?
These are all from different brands for the most part so there really is not a good way to do this.
Novelly Yours candles are based off of books or book related things, these ones are based off of a book called The Raven Cycle.
There's all the candles I could find! My favorite activity is to sit at our dinning table and light a candle, grab a book, some peppermint tea, and listen to some 'chill' music. Speaking of which I've already got my candles down here... see you next time!
Do you guys like candles? If so what's your favorite brand?

People always do 'monthly favorites' videos on YouTube and I thought it would be cool to do the same thing: blog style! I'm not going to guarantee this being a monthly thing, but depending on how it goes we'll see. Let's get started shall we?
First up Papermate Gel Pens.
It's no secret that I'm a writer, and as a writer I have a thousand journals and a preferred writing tool. Gel pens are always nice, they're way easier to write with in my opinion. These gel pens however, they really have that 'glide feeling.' You know the one? They write really easy and it's nice to use these ones. Plus they come in like a hundred different colors so you can pick a favorite. Mine is either green or orange, but those can be hard to read sometimes so I mainly stick with blue. (When I'm in a rush I'll grab which ever is closest.)
Next up The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. (NCWTS)
That sounds both obvious and kind of goofy, but I don't normally watch the NCWTS every weekend. The last couple of weeks however I've found myself loving it more and more. So now I've got two series of race kicks to fill each weekend.
Twinnings Peppermint Tea,
I'm kind of weird when it comes to tea. I have seven different boxes of Twinnings tea in the cabinet but my favorite is Peppermint. It tastes the best (Prince of Wales is a close second!), and has a lot of benefits. It helps you feel better when you're sick, (stomach aches or a head cold or headache!), it's good for reducing bloating and it helps me relax - which I often have a hard time doing.
My favorite iPhone game at the moment is Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.
I remember when it first came out I downloaded it immediately and skipped the "make an account just in case!" option. Which as you can guess I regretted about a month later. I just restarted the game a few days ago. My friend code is 4992 0596 968 if you wanna add me. Animal crossing is such a dorky game I love it. The music is nice, it's relaxing to play and it's just really, really cute.
I first found this strange genre of relaxing music at the beginning of last school year. I wanted some relaxing studying music to play because I do online school and it gets quiet during the day. After a while I found myself clicking on more and more 'Lofi' style mix videos on YouTube. I also have zero clue how you pronounce that so if anyone could tell me in the comments that would be nice.
This last one is going to sound weird until I explain it: Squats.
So at the beginning of the month Cassey Ho founder of PopPilates (Blogilates on YouTube) said she wanted to try to do 100 squats every day for 30 days. I really didn't want to even try doing the challenge but I decided it was the easiest way to make sure I'm working out every day. Turns out its not that hard, I'm having a ton of fun and I'm seeing positive results. Both in my body and in the fact that my asthma isn't flaring up anymore! (I'm going to do a more in-depth article on this soon!) I think you guys should give it a try next month, I'm loving it! (So much in fact I'm considering following along on Cassey's 1000 squats video)
I hope this was interesting to you guys, while this is uploading I'll be watching my little cousin turn laps in his Quarter-Midget!

Okay. Okay. I just finished getting all of my pictures and trying out the products in this month's BOXYCHARM and just - okay. This is my favorite month so far, hands down. This is my last month with BOXYCHARM for a bit, and I would just like to say we are going out with a bang! The theme of this month's box was "Caribbean Queen."
So right off the bat when you open the box this is what you see:
This month's box includes, three Luxie brushes, an Ofra lipstick, the 'Monroe' style Battington Lashes, a Jonteblu eyeliner, 'Brazilian Bum Bum Cream' which is just like a body lotion and my personal favorite - the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe palette.
So first thing's first, the Luxie brushes. The set comes with three brushes, a precision foundation, a tapered highlighter and a duo fiber powder brush all of which come sealed in a little air tight baggie. They are extremely soft, like crazy soft. The brush set retails for 42 USD.
Now for the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream - I'm not gonna lie I giggled a little when I read the name. It's just a regular body lotion that smells pretty nice and it made my arm feel pretty soft where I tested it. The container doesn't come completely full, but I'm not goingto complain because a little bit of this stuff goes a long way. The body lotion retails for 10 USD.
The Battington Lashes are in the style 'Monroe Silk Lashes' They retail for 28 USD, and come in a cute little protective box. The lashes are a nice regular size they aren't gigantic like the ones I bought from Walgreens the other day. (Whoops!) I definitely am going to get some use out of these! They retail for 28 USD.
The OFRA liquid lipstick is a brown liquid lipstick, there's not a lot you can say about a brown liquid lipstick but it wears pretty comfortable it's a bit tacky at first. Also it's not as light as it looks in the tube, the pinky undertones are pretty hidden in my opinion. This lipstick retails for 21 USD.
Alamar Reina Del Caribe palette - I started out by using a little bit of the tan color left on my brush from my Jaclyn Hill palette since there wasn't a tan transition color. Then I took Coco-Taxi (Orange) and windshield wiper motioned it across my eye's crease, I took Tropico (red) and dabbed it in the corners before windshield wiping it across my lid a little lower than the first color. Next I took Guantanamera (purpley-red) and put it in the corners and blended it out lower, and then took Caefecito (brown) and used it directly in the outside corner and inner corner of my eye before sweeping it across the line line. I took Elo Malecon (gold) and planted it in the middle of my eye before trying to highlight my inner conrner with La Costa(silvery-pink) which I realized failed when I got into better lighting (my fault not the palette's!). I took the eyeliner swiped some of it on and then topped the look off with the Battington lashes. (Yes I also am not pleased with the way the picture turned out but it's what we've got to work with.) This palette retails for 28 USD.
The Jonteblu pencil eyeliner was an interesting story. It's a grey eyeliner, which I was not expecting. Grey eyeliners are good for smokey eyes. So It may not have been a complete success with what I was trying to do in the picture above, but it will come in handy in other looks. The eyeliner retails for 5 USD.
So this has been a really fun series. As of right now I don't know when I'll be back with another BOXYCHARM hopefully soon. But have no fear! I'm trying my best to be prepared for Jalcyn Hill's new vault launch. If I can get the palette collection before it sells out next week then I'll review it on here. Fingers crossed, bye!
We're starting to wind down on the BOXYCHARM Series! I love doing these but my subscription runs out next month and as of right now I can't afford to do them for a little while, so I'm hoping June's box comes with tons of awesome stuff so we can go out with a bang! Hopefully this won't be like all the band hiatuses where they take a break and never come back. I would hate that.
So let's get this show on the road! This month's BOXYCHARM box was a little different. It cmae with six products instead of the usual five. May is BOXYCHARMS 'birthday month' so they wanted to throw a little extra something in there for us. The first thing you see when you open the box is the fun little colored card, and when you lift it, all the brushes!
This box came with a set of three eye brushes, (a spoolie, an angled brush and one of those super 'fine tipped eyeliner' brushes.) the fluffy bronzer brush, the liquid lipstick and the Cover FX primer. Hidden underneath the protective packaging was the PUR cosmetics contour sculpting palette. With all of the other things on top I nearly forgot about it being in the bottom of the box.
Let's start with all of the Aesthetica brushes. The brush set that came in May's box was called "The Aesthetica Trio Series" and included the angled eyeliner brush, the spoolie, and the fine tipped brush. I persoanlly liked these brushes, I've been needing to get a spoolie so I was pretty happy to see one was coming in the box. The angled brush works well and since I already had one, my little sister is using hers to put on her eyebrows now. This brush set retails for $45 USD.
We also received the P12 Face Brush from Aesthetica, which pairs well with the PUR Cosmetic's Sculptor Palette. The brush is extremely soft, it blends pretty well and I'm glad it came in the box, the P12 retails for $27 USD.
The PUR Sculptor Palette is a contour and highlight palette that features two of each, and I feel like the colors are a little bit too dark for my skin tone, Im extremely pale. I can eventually get the contour colors blended out, but it does take a bit of work. I think the colors would look really, really good on someone with just a bit of a darker skin tone than my own. The palette retails for $30 USD. The swatches on my arm are in this order: Lipstick, eyeliner, contour, (Inventor and then Founder) and the highlight (Originator and then Trailblazer).
Once again BOXYCHARM has included a Pretty Vulgar product! This time we got the Ink Gel Eyeliner pot. I absolutely love this eyeliner, and for a few reasons. Firstly, it's got amazing pigment, it's a really black eyeliner! And secondly, I live for this packaging. It's made to look like a little ink pot that you'd dip a quill or calligraphy pen into before you start writing! I can appreciate some cool packaging, especially this one.
I have a lot of mixed feelings on the Beauty Creations Matte Liquid Lip Gloss. For one, it's a lip gloss why does it need to be matte? It's got beautiful pigment but the lips just stick together kind of like they've been glued. I really wanted to love this lipstick, but I'd only wear it for the color not the comfort. When you press your lips together and pull them apart while they're sticking together it kind of pulls the color off parts of your lip as if you chiped it off with a toothpick. The matte lip gloss retails for $10 USD. (Excuse the hair, it refuses to floof and it's been a while since I've used my lightening shampoo)
I wanted to end this on a really high note, so for the product I was most excited for - the Cover FX Blurring Primer! I've never owned a real primer so I was extremely excited to see it would be included in the May box! I've used it once under a bit of concealer and blush to test it out and I really liked it! The primer did give me a scare for a second when I put it on my face because it wasn't clear it's tinted a tan color (darker than my skin) but it rubbed away when I put it on. Not sure if that's just this primer or most primers since I haven't used one before. If you guys want to get your hands on the primer it retails for $38 USD.
I haven't included this in past box reviews but I thought it would be worth it to mention that every month each box features a promocode of some sort. This month BOXYCHARM members received a code for Cover FX and PUR.
I hope you guys have been enjoying this series as much as I have been, I'll see you back here next month for the last one! (Again, hopefully not forever!)
*Don't forget to leave me a comment below they make my day!
If you didn't guess by the title, this is my everything blog, where I write about... well everything! You get the idea. The only thing I don't write about here is NASCAR because I have a different blog for that.
