Julia Laundauer's previous race was in the 25 car for Canada's Best Racing Team, in the K&N West Series at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. This week I was very fortunate to be able to get an interview with Landauer. Enjoy!
Firstly can you tell the story of how you got into racing?
I started racing when I was 10 years old in go-karts because my parents were looking for an activity that my whole family could do together on the weekends, and they wanted something that their girls could do against boys. I fell in love with racing right away!
What is the biggest sacrifice you've had to make for racing?
In high school I missed out on friends’ birthdays and overall didn’t see them as much on weekends because I was racing. But I developed great friendships anyway and they all understood my passion.
How do you get pumped up before a race?
I get really nervous before races, so I actually always sprint to the bathroom and sprint back to expel the negative energy and get some endorphins!
What is the most grueling workout you've done?
This year I started working with Trey Shannon Fitness, and we had one day where we did an awful workout on the rower and I almost threw up. I wasn’t happy, but I’m also very noticeably stronger than I was last year.
What is the most inspirational advice you've been given in your life?
I’ve been very lucky to receive a lot of great advice, but one piece that I really love is to remember to take the time to do the things that bring you pure joy. It’s important to give yourself a break and do something that makes you happy. I believe that can give everyone the new energy to keep persevering when it’s tough!
How well do you sleep the night before a race?
Very poorly :) my last good night’s sleep is always two nights before my race, so I make sure I get that.
What is your biggest strength in racing?
I’m really consistent and methodical when getting faster.
If you could give any advice to a girl who wants to succeed in racing what would you tell her?
Always, always, always believe in yourself. Give yourself pep talks, pump up yourself, whatever you have to do. Because if you don’t believe in yourself, why should other people? Good luck!

As usual, there was much mayhem to the Bristol Night Race-why? To put it simply, because it's Bristol. Tonight, it was Kurt Busch who was able to survive the absolute chaos of short track racing.
Kurt Busch hasn't won a race in 58 races his last one being the 2017 Daytona 500. Busch doesn't have a team deal for next season. The 41 car nose as covered in duct tape from damage early on in the race. "That's gotta be a good feeling for Kurt Busch... this ones gotta feel good." The crowd went wild. "It was awesome to be in this position... I didn't want to let my dad down he's here tonight."
"This was an awesome, awesome win for us."
This was also the first win for Busch's Crew Chief Billy Scott. Busch's helmet, gloves and flag all were left on the hood of the car on the way to Victory Lane and fell as he drove away- much excitement from the 41 driver to get to Victory Lane.
The Victory Lane in Bristol is actually on the second level of the building in turn three. "This was definitely a team win for Kurt Busch and the 41 team."
"Look at this smile on Kurt's face-2017 Daytona-last time we were in victory lane hows it feel to be here tonight?" "The guys made good adjustments-just so proud of the team effort. This one is one of the sweetest."

Kevin Harvick won both stages and the race this Sunday evening to get his 7th win this season. This time? in Michigan international Speedway. Harvick wasn't allowed to do a burnout due to inspection, he was told, "Do not damage the car." Keelan Harvick, Harvick's son got to cross the track and get the checkered flag, he’d been asking Kevin for a while.
“It’s pretty awesome just wanna say thank you to everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing.” Harvick said in his post race interview. 'Kid’s drive NASCAR was today, how about this turn out Kevin?' he was asked. “Thank you for everything you do.”
Keelan got his own race car, he got to grab his first checkered flag, and his first ride to victory lane this week. Keelan got a fist bump from Truex while in the car. “You know what we’ve had a great summer.” Kevin said when asked how he can run the race but Keelan steals the show.
Harvick asked Keelan if he wanted to get out if the 4 car and he said no.
When asked what the most important thing about the season is now, Harvick said, “The most important thing is winning races right now and getting all the points you can.”
Keelan was handed a water bottle and he sprayed down the guy who was standing closest, while the guy was pointing to spray his dad instead. Keelan got to get interviewed by Krista Voda too.
KV: "What did you tell your dad this morning?"
KH: “I wanted to ride in the car with him to victory lane”
KV: "Who else in the Harvick family has a race car?"
KV: "What are you racing?"
KH: “A go kart.”
KV: "Who’s your favorite driver?"
KH: “My dad.”
Next week is Bristol!

I live for big news days like today. The Ford fold will have a different but not unwelcome look next season. The NASCAR Cup Series will be switching from Ford Fusions to Ford Mustangs for the 2019 season. Earlier this afternoon the car was unveiled, with Tony Stewart driving it through a giant paper wall.
Several Ford drivers of all thirteen in appearance were interviewed. All of them sounded excited for the upgrade next season. Team Penske was all smiles, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano even joking around a bit. Blaney walked up in the middle of the interview and said, "I'm just butting in on your interview," he proceeded to get teased by Marty Snider about being 'the new guy on the block,' since it's his first year racing for Penske in the Cup Series.
The three chatted about how big winning in Michigan could be for Rodger Penske since it's in the Captain's "Back yard" as well as Ford's "backyard." Keselowski gave the longest interview of the team, talking about how excited he was and how he got to drive the 2019 street version to the event. All three drivers gave big props to Ford for working with them all season to get the Mustang as good as it could be.
Enough squabbling from me, here is the 2019 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Ford Mustang! She's a pretty one!
Chase Elliott got his first Cup series win in Watkins Glen Sunday afternoon. This was Elliott's 99th race, he had finished 2nd place, 8 times before he finally got this win, his dad Bill Elliott did the exact same thing.
Elliott won the second stage of the race, and once he had the lead, drove away from Truex several times during the final thirty laps.
Truex ran out of fuel on the final lap allowing Elliott to pull away for a final time.
Many drivers including Daniel Suarez, AJ Allmendinger, and Kyle Busch congratulated him as they drove by.
Elliott ran out of gas himself and coasted to a stop. Thankfully, Jimmie Johnson who was driving by, threw the 48 in reverse and helped push him to the start/finish line.
The 9 came to a stop in front of his team. The 9 team hugged, smiles all around. "Holy cow what a thrill. I don't even know what to say!"
"Came here with a great opportunity and I was able to get it done! Thanks to all the fans!" Chase Elliott waved to the stands then.
When asked about his dad, Elliott said that his dad was doing the regular spotter thing. "Lucky we had a big enough gap and (Truex) couldn't catch me!" Speaking of Elliott's dad, Bill Elliott will be driving in the Xfinity Series in Road America.
On being told the entire grandstands were standing and cheering, "Greatest thing I've ever seen, thank you, thank you!"
Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, William Byron and others all in Victory Lane to congratulate Elliott personally.
Next week the Cup field will be fitting for a win in Michigan. Don't miss it!
